Who is it for?

The Thinking and Writing Process is a writing tool for students, K-Adult, who are learning to write essays and reports.

What do I need?

You will need a computer or tablet and a printer. The Thinking and Writing Process is a good old paper process! We use paper because it is easier to take and sort notes using physical objects.

What are the basic steps?

The Process guides students through the entire process of writing an essay, report or research paper:

  • Getting Ready
  • Gathering Information
  • Organizing Information
  • Writing your Report

By the time the student has gone through gathering the information and organizing it the actual writing is a snap!

How do I learn the process?

The Thinking and Writing process uses three steps for each task.

  • Explanation
  • Example
  • Task

This allows the learner to understand what we are going to do, see an example, then do the task. These three steps are color coded creating an easy to follow rhythm.

Do I have to do it all at once?

For sure not! You can easily pick up where you left off. Just use the "Take me to where I left off" button in the menu and you will be instantly transported to your the step you were last on! Hint: You can also use the arrow keys to go to the next and previous steps.
