I read my first note, Loons run on water to fly...  like or unlike what?

  • I couldn’t think of a familiar water bird that runs on water to fly, so I tried to think of a familiar water bird that does not run on water to fly.
  • I thought of sea gulls.
  • I did not want to lose this unlike idea, so I marked a large X after Like or Unlike What?
  • I will continue to read each note and ask, Like or Unlike What?
  • As I mark large X’s, I will stack them.
  • Soon I will choose a few X’s and write my like/unlike comparisons on their cards.

My LIKENESSES/DIFFERENCES:  • must make sense      • must be true      • must not be silly.
